Whose wedding is it anyway?

September 13, 2010 Comments Off on Whose wedding is it anyway?

I recently attended my cousin’s wedding and it was just beautiful. Married or single, anytime there is a wedding one can’t help but think about planning their own. For example, who you want as your maid of honor, the venue, designing the cake, and of course the wedding dress. Some brides choose to spend loads of money on their dress but I can’t see spending tens of thousands of dollars on a dress you wear once.

A few trendy brands have created their own line of affordable wedding attire. Brands like The Limited, J.Crew, and BCBGMAXAZRIA design dresses for under $500. Nordstrom recently created a wedding shop on their site featuring dresses and accessories under a $1000 and J.Crew opened its first stand alone bridal boutique this past June.

Check out some of my favorite budget conscious weddings dresses below.

The Limited Elegant Wedding Gown $2998

BCBGMAXAZRIA Strapless Appliqué Dress $398

J.Crew Silk tricotine Robin long dress $325

Happy hour gets a makeover

Happy Friday!

A couple girlfriends and I found the perfect place to hang after work on a Friday.  Because I’m not a drinker, there isn’t much about happy hour that excites me. Mainly because I don’t indulge in the main ingredient that makes people happy. So what elses can make a person happy on a Friday night besides lots and lots of alcohol you ask? Ice cream of course!!! Well, not really ice cream  but frozen yogurt. At Yogurtland just grab a cup, dispense as many flavors as you want, load up the toppings weigh it on the scale and pay. And get this most flavors are under 40 calories per once. I will take this over a cocktail any day!

Have a super weekend everyone!

Miami Spice

Miami Spice

There are many great restaurants in South Florida and for two months every year The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau showcase the best restaurants Miami has to offer.

So what does that mean for you, a three course prix-fixe lunch or dinner at five-star restaurants like, Emeril’s, Gotham Steak, Mr. Chow, Blue Door at the Delano and many more. Every lunch and dinner includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Lunch is $22 and dinner $35.

I think that’s pretty exciting, most of these places are $22 and $35 just for main plates.

Miami Spice starts August 1st and ends on September 30th. Most of  these places take reservations, to see a complete list of participating restaurants and make reservation  click here.

I plan on hitting up quite a few of these restaurants between August and September. I will be sure to give a full report after my visits.

Happy Eating!

Le Tub…..Round 2

May 11, 2010 § 2 Comments

Let me explain.. About 5 years ago my friend Jenn wanted to visit this restaurant she saw featured on Oprah

Jenn S: “So I saw this place on Oprah the other day that’s suppose to have the best burgers in the United States. Do you know where Hollywood, FL is?”

Jenn B: “Yes, Hollywood is about 10 min from my parent’s house”

Jenn S: “I want to go there”

Jenn B: How about we go down to S.Fla for 4th of July and we can visit Le Tub while were there”

Jenn S: Cool Beans!”

Maybe that wasn’t the exact conversation, but from what I remember it went something like that. So we traveled three hours south to Le Tub to feast on their famous burgers. Well, we never got to eat them because there was a 1 1/2 hour wait for ANYTHING coming from the grill. No matter how delicious and famous the burgers we weren’t willing to wait. After being on Oprah they had become so popular it was impossible to get a burger quickly.

So my thought was, after almost 5 years why not give Le Tub another try, things should be different now….right? Wrong! Even getting there at noon, 1 hour after they opened there was an hour wait for ANYTHING coming from the grill. I didn’t leave this time I stayed to sample the food, which was pretty good. I did get a glance at the burgers of those who were patient enough to wait the hour. It is gigantic and looked rather tasty.

Maybe we will try Le Tub again when Jenn visits in the summer, but I won’t blog about it. Maybe Jenn will blog about our experience on BLANK WHITE FRAMES. Jenn, tag your it!!!!

Get some fresh air

April 16, 2010 Comments Off on Get some fresh air

With the weather starting to get better and beach days just around the corner it’s time take advantage of the outdoors and get some fresh air. We’ve had such crazy weather around the country with tornado’s, snow storms, earth quakes, and hurricanes that the news has made it a bit scary for people to leave their homes. It’s time to shake off some of this cabin fever, get out of the house, and breath in the spring air.  Where ever you are geographically plan something fun, exciting, and new to do this weekend.

La Marea

April 1, 2010 § 1 Comment

I drove down to Miami for the semi-annual Home and Remodeling show and decided to have some brunch at La Marea. La Marea, in the  heart of South Beach on Ocean Drive at The Tides hotel offers a fusion of mediterranean and american cuisine. They offer a fantastic brunch until noon and for those late night party goers breakfast ala carte until 2 pm. The decor is to die for. The restaurant and hotel sport an ocean theme. I secretly wanted to visit this restaurant because of their lavishly oversized cushy chairs I’ve seen and heard about. The chairs make you feel like you are in your own private nook. Seriously you have to sit in them they are amazing. Upon arriving you have the choice of taking advantage of SoBe living by dining alfresco with a view of the beautiful atlantic ocean. I enjoyed La Marea so much that I blew off the show and soaked up the view instead.

Villagio

March 23, 2010 § 1 Comment

While out shopping over the past weekend with my partner in crime. We had dinner at Sawgrasses latest touristy dining destination, Villagio. I shop at the outlets often and it seemed as though they’ve been building this restaurant for over a year and a half. When we got to The Colonnade  and saw it was finally open we had to check it out.  Because of the epic amount of time it took to build this restaurant my expectations were set pretty high . They did not disappoint, it was beautifully decorated with a modern Tuscan theme, the food was tasty, and the bilingual Italian speaking staff was courteous and quick . If you’re visiting the Sawgrass area and are in the mood for delicious Italian Cuisine I would recommend Villagio.
